Taekwon-do (TKD) is both a mental discipline as well as a martial art. Founded by the late General Choi Hong-Hi, Taekwon-Do is a scientifically designed and developed alternative to other martial arts, such as Kung Fu or Karate.

We strive at all times to present a balanced training programme that reflects this, with emphasis on the 5 tenets of Taekwon-Do being Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self Control, and Indomitable Spirit. All Il Shim TKD classes are conducted in a safe and controlled environment. All students at this martial arts school are encouraged to participate at a level and intensity that is suited to their individual fitness and ability. This applies to all TKD students, from beginner to Black Belt.

We are affiliated to the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) through Master Michael Bou Daher, 7th degree black belt and Director Il Shim International Taekwon-Do (pictured below centre). Master Daher is the leading authority on ITF technique here in Australia and sits on the Board of Directors for the ITF.
