I consulted my instructor Mr Daher who was now a seventh degree master. He was still able to perform movements that would put 20 year old to shame. What helped him to be able to do that and not get the types of injuries I was experiencing? He told me that he had a weight program that he performed every week that kept his muscles strong, in addition his regular stretching program kept his muscles flexible. He told me to think of a rubber band. If it’s strong and flexible it will stretch well but not break. Liken this to your muscles. Muscles need to be strong and flexible. A weak muscle that is stretched will simply tear. A strong muscle that is also not flexible will also tear. Certainly was food for thought. After that discussion I joined a gym.
